Information for first-time visitors — what to expect, and answers to common questions.

What to expect

An Orthodox service is prayerful and unhurried. Much of it is sung. People light candles, venerate icons, and move about quietly, especially before the Divine Liturgy begins. You are welcome simply to stand or sit and take it in.

Common questions

When should I arrive?

A few minutes before the posted start time. If you arrive during the service, enter quietly and find a place toward the back.

What should I wear?

Modest, comfortable clothing. There is no dress code.

May I receive Communion?

Holy Communion is offered to Orthodox Christians who have prepared through prayer, fasting, and recent confession. Everyone is warmly invited to receive the blessed bread at the end of the Liturgy and to join us at coffee hour.

Will I be singled out?

No. Come, pray, and observe at your own pace. Introduce yourself to the priest afterward if you would like to know more.
